Getting Specials to show up in Reg and Special seasons
#1
The following post briefly explains how to get special episodes to show up in Specials and Regular seasons, which seems pretty straight forward.

I use a "Season Specials" folder, the file name is "Archer - S00E01.avi".
You need a separate folder!

If you want the special episode also under a normal season you can add a tag to display the episode in both seasons. Check the XBMC wiki for that.

Edit: this are the tags...
<displayseason>3</displayseason>
<displayepisode>5</displayepisode>
**********************

However, I can't figure out how to do it with Battlestar Galactica. What would the displayepisode be for the "Revealed" special for instance as shown here?

Ember should do that automatically when you name the Epsiode as "S00E06".
Ember writes displayseason/episode automatically.

Thanks for replying Dan. I never considered that Ember was that smart and efficient...I should know better. That's very cool!

Now I'm trying to figure out why as you scroll through the standard season such as 4, why some episodes come and go as you scroll. Best by explaining this through this video.

In case it matters, I'm using XBMC v12.3 and Aeon Nox v4.0.9

I am also confused Smile
Can you send me a list of all file names? I test then with dummy files.

Try adding the aired on date... so for example "Battlestar.Galactica.2009-03-16.The.Last.Frakkin.Special"

noorani84, perhaps I'm not understanding you, but the video shows that all reg and spec episodes have a "First Aired" date?

Sorry for the late answer.
Yes, it's a bug. Someone has nod understand how it's working and has do displayseason +1 and displayepisode -1 in code.
I have fixed that for next release.

Thank you for reporting this bad bad issue!

Thanks for getting back to me. That's great news. So I'll clean some of my existing stuff up myself.

Would you mind pointing me in direction on how to properly number them based on this example.

"Razor (1)"
<displayseason>3</displayseason>
<displayepisode>21</displayepisode>

"Razor (2)"
<displayseason>3</displayseason>
<displayepisode>22</displayepisode>

Razor Minisode (1)
<displayseason>3</displayseason>
<displayepisode>23</displayepisode>

Catch The Frak Up
<displayseason>4</displayseason>
<displayepisode>11</displayepisode>

Face of the Enemy
<displayseason>4</displayseason>
<displayepisode>12</displayepisode>

For S00E10 - Face of the Enemy (1):

<displayseason>4</displayseason>
<displayepisode>11</displayepisode>

"Airs After Season" field is empty:

For S00E04 - Razor (1):

<displayseason>3</displayseason>
<displayepisode>4096</displayepisode>

"Airs After Season" field is NOT empty:
If an episode is a special and it has "airsafter_season" > 0, then "airsafter_season" will be used for "displayseason" and a static "4096" will be used as "displayepisode".

Thank you Dan for clearing that up for me. I went through and organized manually, but still have some issues.

It's my understanding that the specials episode number should be sequential according to date aired. However, they are not as you can see here, so I'm wondering if TheTVDB.com is incorrect? If you think thetvdb is the problem then I'll make a post there.
