The system will support up to 16GB of RAM, up to 3 internal storage devices, and has plenty of ports for extra peripherals.

The MXI ProBox23 features 2 SATA III 2.5 inch drive bays, a connector for an mSATA drive, and a mini PCIe slot which you can use for an optional WiFi card.

On the outside you’ll find an HDMI port, an eSATA port, 6 USB 2.0 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports as well as Gigabit Ethernet, line, and mic jacks.

The system can support 4K Ultra HD video output and supports Intel Pentium Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 Haswell processors with a max TDP of up to 65 watts.

MSI’s system is small enough to attach to the back of a monitor using a VESA mount. The ProBOX23 measures 8″ x 8″ x 2.1″and weighs about 2.5 pounds.

As I said, depending on the price Wink

If it's very cheap then it may be exactly what a lot of people are looking for.

The motherboard inside is this one: http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Computer-Corp-...B00F4J5D9K for $65. At $155 that leaves $90 for a mini-ITX case with power supply.

I would go with something like this as a case

http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-Elit...9SSXEJX5RR

I find it funny that the Elite 130 is $49.99 while the elite 110 without the 5.25" bay is more expensive at $62.36

Both of your cases are pretty big, especially elite 130 and also they don't come with miniITX motherboard neither with ac adapter.

It's all about form factor. Though they could have made it less ugly. I think removing all those 4 frontal usb 2.0 ports and replacing them with 2 usb 3.0 would make a huge difference.

You should also deduct AC adapter's price. By the way, how do you know what it's exatcly this motherboard? The backplate doesn't look all that same or they customized it?

The actual motherboard is the MSI H81TI and the linked motherboard is the mini-ITX version of that. The H81TI is available in the US (Newegg has it) so it would be up to the DIY'er if the regular mini-ITX + mini-ITX case + PSU or thin mini-ITX + mini-ITX case is a better deal. Most mini-ITX cases that have a built-in power supply either don't need or already come with the AC adapter. AC adapters are also not very expensive.

Feel free to demonstrate it's not possible to build a mini-ITX barebones for the same or better price that's not as ugly.

Well so if it's MSI H81TI then the cost of the motherboard is $80 instead of $65.

I wish I was from US. I would have way more options but sadly my choices are very limited. It's either ugly cases or underpowered NUC.

Where are you located? I might be able to help you find a not ugly mini-ITX case Smile

From a very small country. Lithuania. Would have bought Antec ISK 110 but it's OOS and they are not getting any in the near future. I was able to find this Streamcom case from germany but it costs almost $130 after shipping which is way too much.
