new ServerWMC will not stream live TV Channels
#1
I have been using ServerWMC before and it was working well with Live TV.
I have a Windows 7 that runs the latest (1135) ServerWMC.
The WMC part is configured and working fine.
I am using a HDHomerun Prime running the latest stable firmware (20140121) on Comcast and that is working fine from WMC.
When I request a live TV channel from a xbmc client (another Windows 7 or a Raspberry Pi),
the request arrives at the server and a wtv file is created correctly, but the file is always 512kb and the server does not find any
video and closes the stream and communicates back to the client that it failed. This is true for any channel I try.
Any idea how I can troubleshoot and fix this problem ?
Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I'm new here, but I think you have a better chance of getting a response to your issue if you follow these:

Apparently you should post the _full_ log and use pastebin. Don't paste logs directly into the forum. I hope you take this constructively Smile

@denmonta

According to the log you posted, no data is being captured from the tuners. and I can't tell why that's happening. Please try this experiment (just try this setting temporarily), in serverwmc on the debug tab, turn on 'remux the playback of all recordings...'. After turning it on, restart swmc. Then see if you can play a previously recorded wtv file from one of these channels. Let me know what happens if you try it.

Also, the subject heading of this thread says 'new Serverwmc will not...'. Does that mean the old version of swmc works fine??

Oh, I see that you already posted that it worked on the previous version. If you can, try reverting and see if really does solve the problem. That would be a real head-scratcher if that's the case.

Thanks to both of you for helping....you fixed it...

I am not sure what happened, but when I tried again yesterday from my Windows 7 client, I was able to view live tv.

Very strange since I did not even try the procedures that Krusty suggested. However, the Raspberry PI was still
not working. I looked around and think I had another problem with that one because my workgroup is not the
default "WORKGROUP".
I then modified the OpenElec Raspberry PI to use my workgroup name instead of the default and now it appears to
work from the PI as well. It is not that simple to find out exactly where to make the change
for the workgroup but I finally created a /storage/.config/samba.conf from the sample file and did the reboot and that
seems to be the right place....

Anyway thank you for your suggestions and your hard work on that ServerWMC and client.

Now I am able to reliably watch HD channels from the PI without pixelation, which is not the case when I try the
direct route (going straight to the Silicondust HDHomerun Prime devices).

I remain confused, but that's nothing new. Glad you got it working.
