Gotham- cannot add network location with afp://
#1
Testing out the Gotham release on my Macs, I cannot add a network location (Video->Files) using the afp:// protocol. I have tried on 2 different Macs (10.9.2) and started fresh (deleted existing prefs from Frodo). It did work just fine on Frodo, so seems to be a Gotham issue. The connection attempt is to my Synology NAS. The operation simply times out. I have pasted in the lines from the log files below (logging turned on):

I'm having a similar issue. I can't connect my device to my hard-drives installed in my iMac. Even when I share the folder using samba and afp, xbmc doesn't connect to them.

Just to update- I enabled NFS access on my Synology NAS and while I can access it (with NFS and AFP) using Frodo (12.3 Mac OS X) I cannot see either using Gotham (13.0). Also I can see it and access files using Gotham release on my Raspberry Pi XBMC (13.0).

Im my case I can add AFP location at XBMC for OS X 13.0 32 bit version but always failed at 64bit version.
I also tested on two different Macs with Mavericks 10.9.2.
Sorry for my English.

I can confirm that AFP doesn't seem to work on the 64-bit version of OS X. I'll set up an NFS server here in a bit and get a debug log with that, since AFP is already considered a dead-end :\

(no one to maintain the open source client side, and even Apple plans to phase it out)

OK thanks. I see that afp does work on the 32-bit XBMC (v13.0) but not the 64-bit one. I guess that's why it does work on my raspberry Pi. It did work on Mac Frodo 64-bit. I have nfs working fine now on all versions- I think it was a setting on my Synology NAS that was giving me problems when I switched over to nfs sharing. I am OK living with nfs, not sure how widely supported nfs vs afp is (want to stay away from smb though).
