Linux ChromeBox Kodi E-Z Setup Script (LibreELEC/Linux+Kodi) [2017/02/21]
If you must have component, then this is available: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J22LGYG

Well, following that dumb fix the Rosewill IR605 continues to function flawlessly in 4.2.1.

I can also confirm that the ASUS Xonar U3 USB audio stick functions as plug-and-play. I have not actually tried the SPDIF output just yet, but the option comes up in XBMC, and headphone output is otherwise great (sounds WAY better than the built-in analog audio).

Well it is component or SD in this situation. Component will do 720p/1080i (and in some rare instances 1080p) but composite will only do 480 or 576.

Frankly I think the guy would be better to get a Plasma/LCD with HDMI in, but he wants to make use of what he has, which has to be good for the planet and his wallet.

major script update:

- updated to support running under any Linux OS
- added separate firmware update script for bash-less OS, eg OpenELEC
- switched to using OpenELEC disc image for standalone media creation
- reduced unnecessary script verbosity
- updated coreboot firmware to upstream/master HEAD; includes numerous ACPI fixes
- updated SeaBIOS payload to upstream/master HEAD
- updated to support new Acer/Dell Haswell-based ChromeBox models

eventually the separate firmware update script will become a fully-automated XBMC add-on, if I ever get the time Smile

Hmm, can't do a standalone BIOS update:

Code:
ChromeBox Firmware Updater v1.0
(c) 2014 Matt DeVillier <[email protected]>
**************************************************

!! WARNING !!
This firmware is only valid for Haswell-based Asus/HP/Acer/Dell ChromeBoxes.
Use on any other device will almost certainly brick it.

Do you wish to continue? [y/N] y

Checking if update available...

bash:
<!DOCTYPE
<html>
<head><title>Dropbox
<link
<link
</head>
<body>
<div
<img
</div>
<div
<h1>Error
</div>

</body>
</html>: bad number
Firmware update available (
<!DOCTYPE

<head><title>Dropbox

<body>

<div
<h1>Error
</div>

</body>
</html>)

Reading current firmware

Downloading coreboot firmware

coreboot firmware download checksum fail; download corrupted, cannot flash.

looks like it didn't correctly download the 'latest version' file from dropbox, I've thrown a check in for that. Try again?

For us idiots on the thread....if we're running standalone Openelec, all we need to do is use your new standalone firmware updater script from an SSH terminal...i.e Putty

then....

curl -L -O http://goo.gl/HSZer4
sudo bash HSZer4

....and then we have the latest and greatest?

no 'sudo' needed for OpenELEC, otherwise, yes

Just to clarify

I am on standalone openelec and use connectbot on my tablet to ssh to my chromebox. To update my core boot I just need to enter these commands less sudo and it will update? Sorry if this is a stupid question

When I enter
bash HSZer4

I get

HSZer4: line 1: syntax error: unexpected redirection

I'm guessing either the script didn't download properly, or you mis-typed something in the curl command

Will try it again later

So there was an issue or likely me not entering things correctly?
