Hello DevTeam,

First of all Good Work on Gotham!

I came across what I believe may be a "bug"... I have a live stream which plays fine on Frodo 12.3 (Livesteam addon), but it looks like Gotham is mistaking it for a recorded file and it's asking for chunks, which the server is rejecting. It should play it like a Live Stream and instead, it should ask for bytes sequentially and try playing it...

If someone is willing to take a look at it, please let me know, and I'll send you the file...

Definatley grab a debug lo file and post a link to it here. See the wiki if you are unsure how to do that.

I think there were changes to rtmp, not sure if that is involved here or not.

The only problem I have bumping this up the chain currently is that the issue is coming from an addon that is not in the official Add-on Repo. Have you contacted the add-on author about this yet? It'd be best for the add-on author to bump this issue once they confirm it is a bug in XBMC and not just the add-on needing updated for Gotham.

Thanks Man! The author is MIA and it is NOT the addon coz the same addon works just fine on Frodo. It's a Gotham BUG...it thinks the stream is a video and it's asking for chunks, instead of asking the server for sequential bytes.

There was a recent commit (about a month ago) to curlfile.cpp which doesn't look right to me:

Given the problem described in in CCurlFile I'm wondering if they are related.

Also, for what it is worth the comment on that commit refers to a potential memory leak, even though the original code is correct (and no leak) so it looks as though the behaviour of the original code was misunderstood by the author of the commit.
