im looking for the ultimate kodi-box for a while now. i had android boxes, custom firmware and kernel...still abysmal performance. i had dedicated x86 htpc, but thats overkill in many regards (cost and power consumption).

does anybody have experience with cubox.i and openelec? the hardware is great and it has optical spdif which i need.

Yes - until automatic refresh rate change is implemented, Android is a non-starter for many of us, particularly those of us who watch a mix of 50Hz and 24Hz content.

De-interlacing quality is another key issue for those of us who use our XBMC set-ups for Live/Recorded TV. Any modern platform has to offer 2x de-interlacing (i.e. 50i to 50p, 60i to 60p) - but even the Raspberry Pi can do that ;-)

on minix community a developer have creata a Addon call "Frequency Switcher" ( Auto Framerate detection + switching output in XBMC ), work only with minix box.

developer say:
Quote:Android allready supports switching resolution/refreshrates from commandline.
Code:
echo 1080p24 > /sys/class/display/mode
This would switch instantly...

I would like to get away from a windows based HTPC,

I stream from my server mostly in 720 hd but do have some 1080p 5.1 movies on my server, I do have a few 3D movies that I would need to be able to play.

I also do some online streaming from you tube, and apple i tunes and xbmc torrents.

what would be the best options for doing away with a windows based system ?
