Linux no audio on videos with MP3 and AAC codecs Gotham
#1
Hi all,

just done a fresh install of XBMCbuntu (XBMC 13 Git:d420b5c) and having problems with playback of a couple of codecs. Video with MP3 audio plays ok just no sound and video with AAC audio has no sound also and the video stutters a lot. Playing MP3 music is fine as is passthrough audio with DTS, DTS master HD, Dolby Digital and so forth all being handled just fine.

The log below was taken just after playing back a video with MP3 audio
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=198386

kernel is at version 3.13.2-24
I've installed nvidia drivers from binary (334.21) using the --add-this-kernal optiona and then installing with the --install-vdpau-wrapper. I made sure to remove all previous nvidia drivers and settings following this method (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2081649).

I have a GTX750ti in my machine so have to use the latest nvidia binaries otherwise it won't load up at all. Processor is an i7 920, 6GB RAM and OS is on a SSD with various HDDs for storage.

My HTPC is connected via HDMI to my Sony STR-DN1040 receiver and that to my Samsung TV all via HDMI.

Sorry for the abrupt post but it's 2am here and I'm quite tired but thought it worth getting this up tonight so I can have another look in the morning with any suggestions!

Thanks in advance,
David

Bump.

Still none the wiser but if I repeatedly pause and unpause the playback and resize the image (using 'z' key although not sure if this really helps) it seems to eventually fix itself. This is the debug log from that happening just now... http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=200925.

I'm running the nightly build Git:e34937b (compiled May 13 2014)

Anyone any thoughts or require further info to help diagnose?

The video I'm playing is h264 with AAC audio.

Thanks

Not a Debug Log

There is no need to install a vdpa-wrapper. Nvidia can do that natively. I suggest you using the stable nvidia driver series. Your log is full with "failled to add data to renderer", which looks like a driver fault.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Thanks for info about debug log, I'll sort this out for next time and I'll try a clean installation just now and install the nvidia drivers without the vdpau wrapper. I need to use nVidia driver 334.21 as this is the only version that supports my card (the GTX 750 Ti), unfortunately 331.67 does not.
