OS X how to connect to iMac
#1
I know, to you girls and guys this is a dumb rookie question but if you can help me out, I'd be grateful.

Situation: wired home network, DHCP, iMac running 10.7.x, Raspberry Pi running xbmc, on Mac shared Movie folder ("Everyone")
Objective: I want to stream movies from iMac through xbmc on my new Sony Bravia - I am sure it can be done Tongue

It seems to be a well hidden secret how to accomplish this, haven't found a tutorial yet after two days of searching.

All hints and tips will be appreciated.

Go under videos->files and add videos, browse to a new network location. You can add an apple filing protocol (AFP) connection with the network address of your mac, your user id and password. You can then browse through your mac's file system and add a location where your videos are located. That should hopefully get you going. There are additional options to consider once you get started.

You should be aware that there is a bug in the XBMC AFP client in XBMC 12.3 which causes XBMC to crash. Not sure if it has been fixed in XBMC 13.x yet. See here: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=AFP . You might want to consider starting NFS on your iMac and share your Media over NFS, see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=NFS . You could do SMB but you would have to run SMBUp on the iMac, see http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=SMB/Mac .
