Ouh nice ... try too boot with: radeon.dpm=0

This needs to be filed at bugs.freedesktop.org

Ok. Error about dpm resume disappeared, but the end result is the same.

Edit: Oh, and "DISPLAY=:0 /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc-xrandr --output HDMI-0 --mode 0x60" now completes and exits, but display is the same.

[ 106.376416] [drm:radeon_ib_ring_tests] *ERROR* radeon: failed testing IB on GFX ring (-35).

this does not really look better.

Try a 3.15.x version, e.g.

Code:
wget http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.15.3-utopic/linux-headers-3.15.3-031503-generic_3.15.3-031503.201407010040_amd64.deb http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.15.3-utopic/linux-headers-3.15.3-031503_3.15.3-031503.201407010040_all.deb http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.15.3-utopic/linux-image-3.15.3-031503-generic_3.15.3-031503.201407010040_amd64.deb
sudo dpkg -i *3.15.3*deb

Any better? Btw. this is a kernel drm bug, you need to go to bugs.freedesktop.org and file that one, it won't solve from alone.

I tried the other kernel, but it doesn't seem to be in use...

Should I get this error installing a std Ubuntu? Because as a linux rookie it would be easier for me to file such a bug report.

You need to remove the 3.16 image first or choose the 3.15.x in the boot menu. 3.16 has priority.

Standard Ubuntu will have exactly the same issue. It's a kernel bug.

Try OpenELEC from an USB stick - version 4.1.x - if this still does not get you a screen - go and file a bugreport at bugs.freedesktop.org it's fully out of the scope of xbmc.

I've tried almost all of the new OEs until 4.1.2 without luck.

Filed a bug report. Thanks for your excellent help, although we couldn't crack this one.
