Hey guys
Does the backend addon repo do automatic updates ? I've seen suggestions here and there that it does not.
With the new beta's and general bugginess of (it seems to me) gotham, I expect to be installing revisions for a while yet
and if I can't trust the repo update procedure I'll have to manually check each time that Im not overwriting the pvr addon for wmc.
thanks

XBMC only updates python based addons automatically. Binary/built addons (like the PVR ones) are not auto updated by XBMC.
Every time you install gotham, you will end up with 0.2.93 of pvr.wmc and you will have to manually update to the latest. I am going to submit our latest version to XBMC in the near future but this will only apply to Helix (XBMC 14) nightly builds, so Gotham will always come with 0.2.93 as far as I understand it

In windows, if you put our addon binary in %appdata%\XBMC\addons it will use this one - overriding the older version you get when you install xbmc - so you don't need to re-install our addon every time you install a new rev of gotham.

No problem SC, thanks to both of you. I am significantly informed now.
Krusty when you say put the addon binary in %appdata%\XBMC\addons do you mean copy it manually from c:\program files (x86)\xbmc\addons ?
In the case of updating the addon from zip, would it copy over the program files version or install the update to %appdata% automatically?
Im not sure if I'm being clear. Would the order of operations be:
(from a clean no userdata present install)
1) Install XBMC
2) install pvr.wmc update file from zip
3) copy from program files to %appdata% ?

I mean:
1) download the newest windows-gotham addon from our download page (currently 0.2.95),
2) extract from zip
3) put the resulting pvr.wmc folder and its contents in:
%appdata%\XBMC\addons (just type this into the start menu, it will open the right folder in appdata\roaming)
Then when you do a new install of any gotham version, it won't matter what pvr.wmc it came with, you'll be running the version you downloaded and placed in appdata. Scarecrow thinks we might be able to get this version in a future release of gotham, but until then this works.
