When watching videos I have to turn the volume up about 2 to 3 times what I have on regular cable tv. When watching videos..... during loud action scenes the sound is way too loud. Some video I have to adjust the volume though the whole video. Is there a setting?

Something like XBMC -> Settings -> System -> Audio output -> Normalize levels on downmix ? I'd try seeing if toggling that improves the situation or not.
