Linux XBMC crashes when accessing network drive
#1
Hello dear XBMC community,

I have recently switched from Windows to Ubuntu and have tried to use my beloved XBMC now.
Unfortunately it keeps crashing when I try to add new media that I have uploaded on a WebDav server (https).

I can access the first subfolder via XBMC source selection, but when I enter the second subfolder or just try to add the first one as a source, XBMC crashes.
Once I was able to access a file but then it crashed when I wanted to play the file.

The server itself worked fine on Windows XBMC and I could stream files with it.

Please see my debug log:
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=214894

and my crash log:
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=214895

This is what I typed into the WebDavs form:
Server: webdav.opendrive.com Port: 443
Remote folder: Music (I find this sort of form kinda confusing. It should just be server address where you can put the whole path in it)
The Music is in the folder https://webdav.opendrive.com/Music/Musik-Georg
In the source selection, I can access the Music folder, but when I enter Musik-Georg (which implies XBMC was able to connect to the server as it sees the folder) it crashes.

Thank you for your help.

Kind regards

The same problem goes for Movie folders with the same crash result.
Does anyone have a clue what to do?

do local file sources work?

Yes, local playback as well as adding a local source works properly.

Anyone?
It's still an issue and I also filed a bug report, but I don't know how long it will take for those to be processed.
Any help is appreciated.

I now added the webdav source through the sources.xml and it is succesfully listed afterwards, but still XBMC crashes when I try to access the webdav drive. Anyone an idea?

New log, since old one expired: http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=253027

the log doesn't show anything unusual. Do you have a crashlog with a gdb backtrace?

Hi,
Here is the crash log:
http://xbmclogs.com/show.php?id=253639

For the backtrace I will need some help as I get this error message:
Code:
"/home/georg/core" is not a core dump: File format not recognized

Where is the correct core file located?
I started gdb with that command (full output):
Code:
georg@georg-pc:~$ gdb /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin /home/georg/core

Reading symbols from /usr/lib/xbmc/xbmc.bin...(no debugging symbols found)...done.

Thank you for your help. It's much appreciated.

its probably one of the tons of outdated addons. Try with a clean userdata folder.
mv ~/.xbmc ~./.xbmc.bak

That didn't help unfortunately. Everything was reset, but adding the source leads to the same crashes.

I found a temporary workaround. Now, I update the database in a virtual Windows XBMC installation and then copy parts of the userdata folder to linux.

Playback from webdav works fine (although sometimes it cannot connect to a file and I have to try to play it again - but this is no Linux problem as it happens in Windows too).

Updating the library or adding the webdav source is still not possible in Linux though.
