no sound with gotham 13.1 rc-1may 26 build
#1
Upgraded to ubuntu 14.04 about a week ago and everything was fine.
The only problem I had was if the tv and avr were switched off, then when they came back on I could not see anything (except avr picture) and had to reboot xbmc box.

Tonight I started up the box and xbmc and found I had no sound at all
xbmc is not muted, my avr is not muted and has volume turned up

xbmc audio output has:
default, default output device (pluseaudio)
built in audio analog stereo, analog output (pulseaudio)

I tried:
sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio libasound2-plugins
from http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=177692

but it made no difference.

This is driving me crazy, my wife is not happy at all Sad

I tried 2.0 for number of channels (avr is 5.1) - no avail.

hdmi is coming from the intel i3 3230, no graphics card

any help will be greatly appreciated!

In case anyone else has this problem, the solution is:
sudo apt-get autoremove pulseaudio

Many thanks, I was tearing my hair out trying to get sound to work. Once I executed the above command in Mythbuntu 12.04 and opened up xbmc (13.1) all I had to do was select the correct device (which previously did not appear). All working now. Cool
