Will Cable Labs ever allow other PC solutions other then Media Center to record Encrypted channels?

If not this whole XMBC fun will be spoiled soon. What's the potential long term solution? (if any?)

Just hype. You're confusing encryption with copy protection. Comcast encrypted mine about 6 months ago HDHomerun Prime with a cable card picks up all but the premium channels in XBMC without problems. As long as they don't set channels as copy once or no copy there is no problem. The biggest issue is you will need a cable card tuner.
If I have been of help, please add to my reputation as a way of saying thanks, it's free.

Also, you can record with xbmc/swmc on drm channels now. It playing them back that has the problem Smile.
Windows Media Center PVR addon (pvr.wmc) and server backend (ServerWMC)
