Linux Zotac ZBox AQ01 - Wake on USB / MCERemote
#1
I have just bought the above unit, and have everything running except being able to boot the device from the Harmony remote i have.

I have put in (sequentially) all the vendor and product ID pairings that are detected into a /etc/udev/rules.d/90-keyboardwake.sh

Code:
user@pc:~$ dmesg | grep -i vendor
[    1.476857] usb usb1: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0002
[    1.488876] usb usb2: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0002
[    1.548815] usb usb3: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0001
[    1.608790] usb usb4: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0001
[    1.610104] usb usb5: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0002
[    1.613270] usb usb6: New USB device found, idVendor=1d6b, idProduct=0003
[    2.193666] usb 2-4: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda, idProduct=0129
[    2.622867] usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=8087, idProduct=07dc
[    3.041133] <6>[fglrx]   vendor: 1002 device: 9832 count: 1

this turns on the appropriate devices in their /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/wakeup field but it still does not boot from the remote having suspended it.

the BIOS settings are on, and with newer releases, i thought you only required to create the udev rule to turn this on.

for clarity, here is the lsusb:

Code:
user@pc:~$ sudo lsusb
[sudo] password for user:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bda:0129 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTS5129 Card Reader Controller
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 8087:07dc Intel Corp.
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

if any other details are required, please ask me to provide them.

thanks

Do you succeed to resume with mouse or usb keyboard?
And i dont see any ir receiver in your lsusb.

Thanks for the reply Bibi

Yes, if I suspend the device with a mouse or keyboard inserted, then it resumes as expected.

I don't see the IR receiver in this list either. I can find it under "/proc/bus/input/devices"

does this mean I need to use an alternate configuration? i.e. install the standard lirc app and not just the in-kernel stuff?

Hi, I hope this helps.

This German review might give clues for internal ir:
** Just as with Logitech remote control profile: "Zotac ID62 ZBox Nano" specify. Had always the Media Center PC profile. ** link:

I'm not using internal ir s3 on OE yet. I cant give you code, sorry. Hope you get it sorted. This aq01 has amazing pq on radeon oss vdpau.

Fyi- My USB lenovo n5902 kb works (suspend/resume) on USB dongle via front ports.

Another Good link..

** Microsoft Media Center Extender” profile in the Harmony software, sent a power toggle command, and watched in joy as the damn thing finally actually woke up from suspend. **

OK. I programmed my harmony 300 in the harmony software.
Chose device add:
Zotac
Aq01 media PC.
It suspends and resumes easily, power on power off like a DVD player. I'm on a new OE 13.2gotham 14.04-64 generic. The backspace does not work out of the box, but a remap should do fine.
Edit: fixed in harmony sw choose buttons -> zotac media -> drag Return onto the backspace arrow curly thingy.
Works like a champ now.
Update:
It actually powers it on from a power off system shutdown. Suspend/resume seems pretty solid. I will use this for a while now.

Hi gfisher,

i've got the same box and openelec runs with it, and also a normal ubuntu 14.04, but i never got the AQ01 to resume from S3 or S4 or S5 with my remote. I've read that you are using a logitech harmony with MCE-profile. Is this all what you are using? Are you using the harmony with the integrated IR-Port at the AQ01 or do you have another USB-IR-Adapter for your harmony?

thx, jennix

Hi Jennix

Mce-remote profile does not work! At lease no resume from s3.
From the app from harmony you must choose zotac aq01. Not MCE. Then it should work.

Note- backspace on the aq01 profile is/was not assigned. In the harmony software assign that button to "Return".

I am still using mine. No glitches so far. I'm now on OE-helix.

Using internal ir only.

Hi gfisher,

thanks for your reply! I was very short before getting sick about this ZBox-CIR-remote-thingy. Then i've read your posting and there was hope Wink
I have an old harmony 525, and with this remote and the new programming i could switch the ZBox off and on! Now i'm using an "One for All"-Remote 7960, which learned the keys from the harmony and all is fine.

I think Zotac is building some fine hardware, but documentation is not their major strength...

thx, jennix
