pvr.mythtv add-on
(2014-08-27, 01:08)dothedog Wrote: I am having an odd issue. I am running myth v0.27.3-150-g082d5c on ubuntu 14.04. XBMC 13.1 Git:f2acae7.
1 tuner is a motorola stb controlled via firewire, and 2 tuners on an hd homerun. All have worked flawlessly for months now.
I just set up the pvr.mythtv add-on, and it mostly works. The only problem I am having is that it only "sees" 193 channels. even though there are hundreds available on myth. also, it doesn't seem to see the hd homerun tuners either. Is there a setting or something to allow is to pick up more channels/tuners?

@Jambar
This addon has been great, just trying to get the rest of my channels to show up. Here is my xbmc log. I didn't see anything weird in there, but maybe you can

Hi, i think you have duplicated channels between different sources. The addon aggregates myth channels by callsign to make the set of unique channels. Then channel is identified by its callsign and associated to the first myth channel (ChanID) with same callsign. So only one sourceID will provide a channel even if other source provide channel with same callsign.

I am not a specialist of myth setup. But it could be complex to configure system with different type of capture cards which provide same channels. Maybe you are in this situation and you have many channels duplicated (callsign) and addon shows you only one.
Time passed and i think the aggregation is not perfect because 2 channels with the same callsign but provided by two different sources (captureCard / videoSource) are merged to one. In fact only channels assigned with same source should be merged.
Using rule above, i think you will have more channels available.
Soon i will review the aggregate method and let you know.

Also, it could be the reason why addon does not use your hd homerun tuner: All channels (callsign) are provided by your first source (motorola card / dedicated video source maybe sourceID 1).

@dothedog One thing more (for today): Addon create one group of channels by source. So you would have more than one group of channel ?

I've been using the new mythtv addon for a while now and it works great except for one case for me. If I'm watching TV and theirs a recording that is going to start in the old cmyth addon I would get an error message informing me that livetv would stop then I'd end up being dropped back to the last menu I was on in xbmc. With the new addon, I see the message saying theirs a recording conflict, and then my xbmc session freezes (never times out). I normally need to login via ssh and do a kill -9 on xbmc and restart it to watch tv again. I don't see much in the xbmc.log (http://pastebin.com/rU8aCATh).

Anyone else experience this?

What is the xbmc version, Gotham or Helix ? (logs is incomplete from pastebin)

EDIT: Also i need to know if you use mpeg-ts demuxing option. Brief the full xbmc.log would be great.
It look like a dead lock; i will test it again using the two configuration: using demuxing or not

Hey Janbar, sorry already lost the logs it seems. I only copied the portion of the logs from around the time when it had hung, didn't think to keep the rest, sorry about that.

I'm using Gotham, and demuxing is enabled.

Edit: Next time it happens I'll grab a full xbmc.log.

So, i added a new commit to update the channel merge. Now addon merge channels from the same source only. The addon create a group of channel for each source. Then changing channel group (in channel screen) allows you to view other channels. Now you can open show for duplicated channels in other source.

Also you have to know adding a new timer for a duplicated channel accross source will create a rule with specified channel, but your myth backend will not record necessarily this channel id: It will choose one among all channels with same callsign/number.

@MikeB2013 @nickr It relates same subject of previous post about duplicated channels across sources.

@janbar. Wow, thanks for the quick response! Question, so how do I test the new commit? will it update automatically or should I grab it from somewhere?

I think you are correct. I was used to seeing 3 tuners on the HD homerun and one from the Motorola STB, After careful review I think your analysis is correct, so I am looking forward to testing your new commit.

Hi, I'm wondering if it would possible to add an option to disable automatic commercial skipping?

The myth commercial detection isn't the best and I'm having a lot of issues with it incorrectly flagging the end of commercial breaks in the middle of the show and marking the last 5-7 minutes of the recording as commercials. The first is slightly annoying having to seek back then forward again. The second is really aggravating. The plugin skips to the very end of the recording, so there is no time to skip back before it dumps you back into the recording list. Then to get back to where you were you have to seek back through the whole recording from the beginning and hope that you don't accidentally seek to just before the commercial break and have it skip to the very end of the recording again.

Janbar, I have a feature request - any chance of some on screen feedback when initiating a recording of livetv via xbmc with XBMC.PlayerControl(Record) ?

Yes it is possible with a menu hook for recording screen. this menu is available by clicking item "Client actions". Could you create an new issue in my repository: https://github.com/janbar/xbmc-pvr-addons/issues

On "Record" action (using remote control or keyboard) XBMC call addon function AddTimer(), which creates the rule in Myth. Then Myth feedback to the Addon when record is starting and addon feedback to XBMC. In this case XBMC owns the feedback on the screen.

Probably you want to call it using XBMC remote api. There i don't know if screen feedback is enabled ! But do you see at least the red bean ?

So, yes the screen lock. But it is not a dead lock. The player continue to ask data even the show was closed. Crazy !

EDIT: due to thread race condition. Fixing...
