permission problem with photos
#1
Hello,

I've a linux server (Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits) and an HTPC in linux (XBMCBubntu).

I've my photos on the server, the foilder are in chmod 755. I can not see all photos in XBMC. I can see several photos, but not all, who are totaly black.
If i change the chmod to 777, then I can see all Photos ?

Must I add a specific user to my group on the server ? Witch users ?

Thanks in advance ?

The user for XBMCbuntu would be xbmc and the group would also be xbmc. Are you serving the photos using NFS or SMB ?

Thanks for your help.

I'm using SMB.

I'll try to add the user xbmc in my user group and return as soon as possible.

SMB permissions/ownership are a mix of unix permissions/ownership and samba settings. It is complicated.

The user for XBMCbuntu live is xbmc, but if you have installed it to a hard drive it will be the user you set on the installer, and group the same name.
