Linux ALSA sound 7.1 with Onkyo 616

Question
Hi everyone,

I use XBMC since a while now, and i love it!

Recently i buy new Focal speacker and upgrade my home theater from 5.1 to 7.1

After a new fresh install of ubuntu 14.04 and xbmc 13.1, i remove pulseaudio (my HTPC is used only by xbmc) and setup alsa and XBMC, but yet i still have no sound in my up-front speacker (5.1 works great).

So i think alsa configuration is the problem but i have no clue to fix that...

Here a link to my alsa setup : http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9c3751...96f512aada

Thanks for your help

Did you turn up all the channels on your sound card?

At a terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1) login and type:

aslamixer

Press F6 to select your sound card, and check all the volume sliders are turned up.

After adjusting, exit the mixer and return to XBMC by pressing (CTRL+ALT+F7)

Another thing you can check is the Audio configuration in XBMC itself and make sure that the channels are actually set to 7.1
and the passthrough audio options are set properly.

Check the XBMC Wiki for details:

Good Luck!

Hi,

In alsa mixer everything are 100%.

The most strange think is my dvr is working in 7.1, so i really belive is alsa missconfig, but i really don't know how i can fix it.

it's possible the 7.1 from xbmc is only surround back and not front hight ?

Thanks.
