Question
Hi Everyone,

I have an old revo 3600 and decided i needed to upgrade the WIFI card, i did a little research and a much newer version which was compatible.

and found the wifi drivers http://www.broadcom.com/support/802.11/linux_sta.php

I have tried to find out how to install the drivers but have had no luck.

So far i have downloaded the TAR.gz file

I have uncompressed it to a folder, but i cant work out how to install the drivers.

does anyone know what i need to do now

Thanks for your help (I know its a silly question Confused)

If I recall correctly STA means access point, and you need client mode drivers.

Hate to say it but you bought the wrong card. Get one with an Atheros chip.

This is not an exhaustive list but it should get you started. There are filters on top, pick what you need - PCI or PCI-E, Atheros is ath9k (not the htc one). Keep in mind model names don't guarantee compatibility. A vendor might switch chips between revisions.

Package: bcmwl-kernel-source
Description-en: Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver source
This package contains Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA wireless driver
for use with Broadcom's BCM4311-, BCM4312-, BCM4313-, BCM4321-,
BCM4322-, BCM43224-, and BCM43225-, BCM43227- and BCM43228-based
hardware.

If your card is in this list, just install that package. This is from ubuntu, but most distros have it packaged, although the name might be silghtly different.
