Logitech keyboard remote
#1
I was browsing at Best Buy today and saw a couple new Logitech remotes. The one I came super close to buying is the keyboard with the touchpad. It's basically like a larger size of the Favi micro I use now. I think the only thing that held me back was the lack of backlit keyboards. I like being able to see the keys in the dark. There was also some mention of an app I can download too. I don't know if I can download that and use it now since I have the harmony ultimate right now. Anyways, anyone have that keyboard and want to share some feedback?

I have the setup, I bought to replace harmony one and a k400 keyboard. Size is about same of k400, quality is nice but yes biggest thing is the backlit keys. Wish it had those. I've also read it doesn't work off same harmony hub as ultimate so you will need two hubs. Programming is all done from the Harmony App. I would think the same app will work with your setup now.

Yeah it really is a keyboard but it's supposed to control up to 8 devices including media center, AppleTV, set top box, AV receiver, etc.

It works great just like any other remote. It has 3 activity buttons that can be used as 6 activities after a long press. Would be a nice feature if I could add a remote to it without another hub.

Well I bought this keyboard and it works with everything except for XBMC. I plugged one of the dongles into my HTPC running OpenElec and just configured a computer using RF asnd it found the dongle and continued. I made an activity but I can't find any key on the keyboard that lets me switch to it plus nothing controls XBMC in OpenElec anyways. Do I need to h ave Windows and/or replace the dongle with a Bluetooth receiver?

Well, I set the device up as Microsoft media extender and set the keyboard type in OE to Ortek. The keyboard sort of works. I can't use the arrows to navigate unless I hold down control. Minor annoyance but I wonder if there is a keyboard type where I don't need to use the control key. The controls on my iPhone do absolutely nothing. I bought this to use the keyboard but I still wonder why the keyboard can control it but not my iPhone.

Well, I can't use the iPhone as a controller so I use it merely to program the hub. I remapped the keys on the keyboard by beaming commands from a MCE remote I had (play, rewind, fast forward, etc.) so that the transport controls on the keyboard now work in XBMC. I have the keyboard working perfectly with everything and it replaced 2 remotes. I thought I might have to switch to Windows but so far everything seems great.
