Linux 3 Min to Start Playing a Video
#1
This only happens on one of my boxes if I don't use it for a few days. I go into the menu is normal/responsive I find the video I want to play and I hit play and it seemingly locks up XBMC. I have never been patient enough to wait until now while capturing my logs. A reboot fixes it but what i saw while trying to look through my log is about 3 min later the video started playing.

Here is my first log that I uploaded while it was frozen: http://paste.ubuntu.com/7795139/

And here it is again after it started playing: http://paste.ubuntu.com/7795160/

Between lines 1375-1376 there is a 3:18 gap which is has no data in it.

Currently on that same box I can now play any video without a pause or without the GUI becoming unresponsive.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

How is the hardware configured? Is there a possibility that you have movies on a mechanical drive that's gone to (deep) sleep, while the OS is still running - either from a separate disc (including an SSD built in to a hybrid drive) or simply in RAM?

Good thought but all three of my XBMC boxes connect to a central freenas box via NFS from a permanent mount in /etc/fstab

Code:
filer:/mnt/main/media               /mnt/media        nfs     auto,noatime,nolock,bg,nfsvers=3,intr,tcp,actimeo=1800 0 0

I can go to the CLI and copy files with no delay at any time off that mount. Only the single one has any issues with that delay of playing a video after non-use for a few days or even hours. Haven't done a scientific check of the exact time it has to be idle.
