Hi All,
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for the assistance given to my issue.
In the end, I decided to do a fresh install of Linux Mint XFCE 17 32-bit. XBMC now functions well. On my other machine, running Mint XFCE 17 64-Bit, I've never had an issue.
I do believe the problem was related to the oibaf (mesa) Graphics Driver. Recently there have been practically daily up-dates.
