Linux [UBUNTU] XBMC not mounting USB drive/not showing "USB drive inserted" window
#1
Hi everyone!

I went from an XBMCbuntu installation to a Ubuntu 14.04 + XBMC installation on my HTPC for various reasons.

On XBMCBuntu, when I inserted a USB drive, XBMC recognized it and showed me several options (like play movies, play pictures, etc... from the USB drive) upon insertion.

But now, When I insert a USB drive, XBMC does not give me these options.

The USB drive is recognized by the system and it is being mounted (as I can access it through the XBMC file manager), but XBMC does not give me options to immediately play something from the USB drive/doesn't give a message when it is inserted.

A certain setting that I need to turn on perhaps?

For those of you who have the same issue, just found the solution:

- Make sure XBMC is started in standalone mode (xbmc --standalone in terminal).
- Under system settings - details - removable media, select the last option ("no popup or application start when removable media is inserted")
- Uninstall the package usbmount (if you had it installed)

I have the same issue here.
I have followed the steps but I can't have the menu showing up when I plug a USB drive.
It gets mounted successfully but I will not get the popup asking me what do I want to do.
