I'm sure this question has been asked many times. However, new version boxes are now being produced with better hardware. They all seem to use the Rockchip 88, but I have seen posts in other forums where people claim to have OpenElec running on these boxes.

Would someone be so kind as to give a straight answer on these boxes and post their experiences on which flash works best

Best flash? You mean firmware? That depends on the specific hardware you have.

If you are talking about the best build of XBMC, then you should first try XBMC from http://xbmc.org/download/

If you have issues with that then maybe try the unofficial SPMC (wiki), which has some experimental fixes.
