Hi,

For more than a year, smb shares have been slow for me. I can access the library fast, but when I click a movie, it takes 10+ seconds to load, and when the movie plays, it keeps buffering from time to time.

I am using Windows 8 and 13.1.

Is smb the way to go? is there something I am missing?

Thanks. Already tried this:

<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<cachemembuffersize>20971520</cachemembuffersize>
<readbufferfactor>2(and 5)</readbufferfactor>

Did make much difference.

What hardware are you sharing from, and what is XBMC running on (hardware wise)?

Sharing from a core 2 duo e8400 3ghz with 4g ram.

Sharing to athlon 64 x2 dual core 5000+ 2.6ghz with 2g ram.

Note that I used to stream via smb to the original xbox many many years ago and it worked fine. Also streaming add-ons work perfectly.
