No harder than for anyone else. Ssh in and get the log. No log means it's almost impossible to help you.

Well, I thought that is what I did.

Booted the PI, set up the debug mode.

Noticed the path where it was saying it saved the log.

tried a few addons to get.

Copied the file to the PC.

Try this and tell me if this is it:

Something else I was suggested:

I SSL'd into the PI.

from the CLI:

So the PI is on the net.

Some setting in XBMC is somehow stopping it working.

yes, this is a debug log, but unfortunately cropped. Note that you have to reboot once you enabled debug logging so that also XBMC startup will show debug information and not just since the time you enabled the setting. I'm really sorry that you have these issues, but it's really hard to tell what's going on without a FULL debug log - so also from startup.

I've seen this line in the current log:
Quote:SMBDirectory->GetDirectory: Unable to open directory : 'smb://BLACKSHEEP/XBMC_share'
unix_err:'d' error : 'Permission denied'
have you setup the credentials to that share correctly?

If you have a spare SD card and you're willing to give it a try, I'd be interrested if OpenElec has the same issues. Or have you tried a different RaspBMC version (nightly or stable)?

AFAIK, yes the sharing on the PC is allowed.

That directory is there to make it easy for me to copy the debug log files into.

I shall enable the debug and then reboot the PI.

Then try to get some addon's and when it fails, copy the file to the PC.

Have you read the start guides on wiki.xbmc.org ?

These show you what to do. I agree. But they are not helpful if what you click on doesn't work.

I could accept the mirrors are down. But for 36 hours?

EVERY time I try, I get nothing back.

So either: I am very unlucky that every time I try the mirrors are down; or: There is another problem.

I got it with the Pi, for the Pi at "Element 14".

I didn't think I had over clocking on.

I'm going to need a bit more help.

Finding settings is not easy as I am not sure where to find them.

In your log the arm_freq shows 900 which means it's overclocked.

Ok, I can't argue with that. However in my journey through all the settings I do remember an "overclock" page and it was NOT ticked.

I am at a loss to what is going on.

P.S.
I am not getting e-mail notifications of replies, when I have the "Subscribe and receive email notification of new replies" ticked.

Update:

Found that stuff on overclocking.

Programs / Raspbmc settings (one of two icons at the bottom of the screen) / System configuration.

Scroll down to "Advanced system settings"
Advanced overlocking - NOT ticked.
CPU overclock 900
Core overclock 375
Image sensor Pipe olvedrlcock 250
GPU overlock 253
RAM overclock 400
Overvoltage 0

All these are GREY and I can't edit them.

ONLY if I clock the "Advanced overclocking" option.

So if it is "overclocked" then it is "standard overclocking" and as far as I remember I never set it.

Look at the setting above Advanced Overclocking. It's called System Performance Profile (which is an overclocking setting) and I bet it's set to Fast. By default it's set to Normal. Advanced Overclocking is the tweaking of the System Performance Profile.

Thanks.

I don't know what has happened but now it is set to NORMAL.

I think at some stage I clicked the DEFAULTS button.

Anyway, have you had a look at my last/latest debug post?

I hope there is something helpful in there.

As I have since posted: It is strange that I can PING google.com.au from the CLI.

And although that may not prove much, it is strange that I can't get any addons or access the web from with in XBMC.

Tell me which mirror is closest to you
http://mirrors.xbmc.org/addons/frodo/met...mirrorlist

To try, download this file and see from which mirror it is downloaded

I see that now, God knows what I was seeing before. I was sure I saw the line saying 'level 0'.

yes
The log shows a timeout so perhaps could be related to a mirror problem. Easy to test

So how do I know which is "closest" to me?

I opened the mirror list and downloaded a .zip file, but don't understand what I am supposed to do now.

Ok, sorry. Re-read it.

If my PC XBMC can load/get to the list of addons but the PI's XBMC just fails/shows nothing, I don't know if it is a problem with the mirror.

A thought:

If I go to PROGRAMS from the main page, there are two icons below:
XBMC settings and RaspBMC Browser.

What is the browser all about?

If I try to "install" it, it doesn't work.

Does that "help" with finding out where the problem is?
