Solved No joystick support on Gotham 13.2 beta-2?
#1
My Logitech F310 gamepad works fine in the 13.1 release version, but in 13.2 beta-2 is only detected as a USB device in the logs (no "Enabled Joystick" line). Also, there is no setting for joysticks under input device settings in the GUI (even when "Expert" is selected).

I am not certain that this is a bug, or if the beta was simply compiled without joystick support, so I am not reporting it as one as of yet (I would build it myself to check, but for some reason I am having a problem getting XBMC to build on Mavericks).

My setup is a Mac Mini Late 2014 with Yosemite and a PS3 Sixaxis bluetooth gamepad.
I've installed Kodi Helix 14 and I cannot use the PS3 gamepad. The System/Settings/Input devices/"Enable joystick and gamepad support" option is missing even when "Settings level" = Expert. Do it works in the previous version Gotham 13.2 Release.

Why the joystick support was removed in the Kodi Helix version for Mac OS X?

Besides, although the PS3 bluetooth gamepad works in Gotham 13.2 Release, it only works if it's connected (via bluetooth or via USB) before XBMC boots, there is no hotplug feature as Windows (and Linux?) has.

1) Is planned to add gamepad or joystick hotplug for Mac OS X?
2) What if the gamepad is an RF wireless like the XBOX 360 or the Logitech F710? These controllers are connected as soon as the OS boots?, or they have a button to establish connection like the PS3 bluetooth gamepad has?

Sorry by the many questions, but I'm going crazy while setting up my HTPC Smile

This is the log of Kodi 14.0 when the PS3 controller is connected to USB:
kodi.log
No controller is detected.

And this is the log of XBMC 13.2 when the PS3 controller is connected to USB:
xbmc.log
The controller is detected.

After manually enabled debug logging directly using advancedsettings.xml for input devices (http://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file/Advanced#...ut_devices):
kodi.log with advancedsettings.xml for input devices

As I stated in a previous post it seems that joystick support is missing in Kodi 14 Helix for Mac OS X.
I've tested it under Yosemite 10.10.1.
Somebody can confirm it please?

can confirm, on Yosemite 10.10.1 in Kodi 14 (and also 14.1 and 15) with Wiimote through WJoy no joystick detected and also no "Enable joystick" menu option in settings. At the same time, previous version (XBMC 13.2) works fine

I found out the cause to this, but had forgotten to post about it. Apparently the default joystick Keymap doesn't load, and this was done to prevent some other issue that was hammering other platforms. To fix this:

1. Cut and paste this into a new plain text document called joystick.xml: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/xbmc/x...xml.sample

2. Save the file (as joystick.xml) in the userdata folder (wiki) in the keymaps folder.

3. Restart Kodi.

Joysticks should now work again.

Sorry, but this still doesn't work for me, and I don't even have option to enable joysticks in the settings (I use "Expert" mode)

So it appears that Kodi for OSX was built without SDL support, because that's why I can't see option in the menu

I compiled my own Kodi 14.1 Helix for OSX when I had to put Crystal HD support back in.
It should include SDL / joystick support as well.
Here is the download link if it helps some users:

Same issue here.

Attempting to run Kodi on my Mac Mini with Yosemite and xbox 360 controller. Also updated the keymap in the userdata folder without success as suggested by Ned Scot.

Any more ideas? Thanks!

So far no luck even with the new Isengard 15.0 beta.
Why SDL was disabled? It was working on OSX before
