[Solved] Audio output always 7.1
#1
Thumbs Up
Whatever setting I use in the "Number of channels" setting the output is always 7.1. I've tried setting it to 2.0 to have my receiver do proper ProLogic decoding, but it only gets output at 7.1 with audio only coming from FL & FR.
When it is set to 7.1 as in the screenshot the output is 7.1 even when playing an AAC 5.1 stream or an AAC 2.0 stream.
How can I get XBMC to output 2.0 when there's a 2.0 stream, and 5.1 when it's a 5.1, and not always output 7.1 no matter what?

I'm running version 13.1 on an Intel NUC using HDMI to connect to my receiver.

The problem is most likely using Directsound device as the Windows speaker layout will override the XBMC channel setting, change to the WASAPI HDMI device so Windows config layers are bypassed and all should be ok.

WASAPI seems to have done the trick. Thanks!

Now I just have to update my audio drivers as DTS-HD passthrough doesn't work.

Make sure you have the Intel Management Engine Interface driver installed for DTS-HD, this provides the DRM that is required by Windows to enable passing of the HD audio formats.
