XBMC 13.1
Nvidia GTX 560
Nvidia 331.38 Drivers
Onkyo SR313 AV Receiver
Computer is connected via DVI to HDMI cable.

Please read the FAQ next time or use the forum search - you are running pulseaudio: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=PulseAudio
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Hi guys,

I was able to resolve the above problem by following the below mentioned post on pulseaudio.

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=183436

I installed pavucontrol app and set the configurations as mentioned and got the required settings, however still the sound was not good enough as directly playing the media from the smart tv was very good.

Then I started the xbmc app with alsa using the following command in terminal and it gave me more options and detecting my AV receiver as well. Check the screenshot.

However still the sound quality was not comparable to the direct TV playback sound. Then I made some changes in my Onkyo receiver setup and the voila the issue was resolved. I made the following changes in the Receiver setup:

For Onkyo:

In Hardware Setup -> HDMI Setup
Audio TV Out - Off
HDMI Control (RIHD) - Off
Power Control - Off
TV Control - Off
