I am running stock OpenELEC on my RaspberryPi.

If I leave the tv idle for some time, it switches the input to the cable television(non HDMI).
What could the reason be?

It could be CEC related. Does the behaviour change if you disable CEC in settings/system/input/peripherals/cec adapter?

Thanks that was CEC. Changed standby settings in CEC settings and it's is fine now.
