[Annoucement][AFTV] SPMC (XBMC spinoff) published in Amazon Appstore
#91
(2014-09-01, 04:58)onlinespending Wrote: I installed SPMC on my rooted Fire TV, running the latest routable firmware, yet for some reason I cannot get surround sound to work. The "Audio output device" is grayed out and set to "android, audiotrack" and "Number of channels" is grayed out as well and set to "2.0". Is there a way to fix this? Thank you.

UPDATE: oops. Just looked a few posts up and saw a lot of discussion on this already. Sorry!
Multichannel PCM output for Android didn't really exist in Gotham. I believe it has/will be added to Helix, though. Meanwhile, passthrough works great if you have a receiver that can decode the audio.

Any news from Amazon, why it's not being published in the FireTV store?

I install stane's xbmc and start it up once and it asks for supersu permission and I grant that and then I just exit. Now, doing this brings the video back in SPMC. The reason I want to use SPMC is that it plays some 1080P movies flawlessly, with Stane's or Oman's xbmc the video freezes after 10minutes, which doesn't happen with SPMC. However, after reboot, there's again no video in SPMC.

If they fixed the case changing the permissions on startup of SPMC, then it should work ok. The older two versions were working ok as well, you just had to start xbmc first to change the permissions or some system files etc., that's why it would want root access to the device. However, SPMC never asked for the root access and thus never changed the permissions to allow it to work properly.

Is there something I can do to fix this instead of installing stane's xbmc? Are there any permissions etc., that I need to change? Please help.

Thinking about trying the replacement launcher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthre...?t=2782307. Can I install the non launcher SPMC over my launcher SPMC? Or will I need to uninstall first.

Edit. No problem installing over, just had to use adb install -r <whateverpackage.apk> to do it.

Yes. A more detailed list of instructions for replacing @elmerohueso's XBMC Launcher with @Koying's SPMC Launcher would be very helpful. TIA!

  1. Install SPMC
  2. Launch SPMC
  3. Exit SPMC
  4. Copy the contents of /sdcard/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc/files/.xbmc to /sdcard/Android/data/com.semperpax.spmc/files/.xbmc
  5. Launch SPMC to verify settings copied correctly
  6. Uninstall XBMC

The FTV is seems to be automatically set to delete an app's data when it's uninstalled, so you do not want to uninstall XBMC first or you may lose your data.

Alternatively, you could use the XBMC Backup addon in the official XBMC Repo to backup everything and then restore that into SPMC.

I did these steps exactly and now when I press the home button on my remote it says it can't find XBMC. It doesn't try to load SPMC. SPMC works perfectly with my old XBMC settings, but it won't operate as the launcher. I can't reboot or I won't be able to load any launcher. My exact error message is "Activity org.xbmc.xbmc/org.xbmc.xbmc.Splash not found". I've searched around but haven't found any answers to this issue...

Did you uninstall xbmc? And the spmc that you installed was the launcher version?

Wink
I just joined the forums, but I was reading this thread and well do not have a rooted AFTV, but I already side loaded SPMC, but one interesting thing, I went still to the AMAZON apps SPMC link and 1 click it to it, and then went to my FIRE TV and sync my account. And now I have SPMC on the main screen, how it happens don't know and have no idea, maybe because it was already sideloaded and the AFTV got confused.

Really strange...
Still not available to me.
Not working for me either... really strange.
well no idea either, it still there in the launcher, I have the latest firmware from amazon since i never rooted the device.
Tried the same trick as bluedemon and it worked for me as well. Went to the German Amazon Website, bought it via 1-click, synchronised my account and the SPMC icon appeared on the main screen. Interesting is that it doesn't appear in the Apps-Library but only under recently used objects. Anyway, it works, thanks @bluedemon. I deinstalled Llama and my helper app for starting SPMC, which is not needed anymore now. Will be interesting to see what happens when an update for SPMC is published.

Edit: One thing I noticed is that if I open the Apps-Detail Screen it reports that there are no supported controllers. All my other Apps report minimum the Fire Tv Remote as supported controller. Maybe this is the reason why it is reported as incompatible with Fire TV in the Amazon Store?
@bluedemon Are you on the german amazon, too?
Might be a bug on their site...
The problem still is that Amazon considers SPMC to be incompatible with the Fire TV.
@Koying do you think resubmitting it to Amazon would help anything?
