XBMC runing on the RiOT board with Freescale i.MX6Solo SoC
#1
Hello XBMC experts
I am a new comer in this community and I need your help to setup XBMC on my RiOT board featuring a Freescale i.MX6Solo SoC (ARM Cortex-A9 @1GHz).
I followed the instructions to install the XBMC apk on an Android 4.3 BSP and it worked fine with some 720p mp4 videos.
Unfortunately the video accelerator (vpu) embedded in the i.MX6 seems not used to make the decoding and the reading shows many freeze, lags Sad
I have found another Freescale i.MX6 hardware solution, the cubox-i, which has a specific XBMC distribution so it seems feasible to get it working on my RiOT board.
Thanks in advance for your help to evaluate the efforts required Wink
Greg

PS: if you can help me with this software portage, I can probably get a loan board for you

XBMC h/w acceleration on Android on imx6 is not working, yet.
For now, there are openelec and geexbox linux builds which work perfectly well.

See, e.g., http://www.solid-run.com/community/viewt...f=7&t=1036 and http://www.solid-run.com/archive/mw/GeeXboX

See this discussion thread http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=161793

and code development https://github.com/xbmc-imx6/

Once player is added to mainline for Linux then it can be ported to Android

Thank you Koying for your quick answer.
Do you know if this BSP will work fine with the RiOT components as driver might be different ?
