Odd audio issues

Ok so I am not very savy with Linux so please bare with me on this.

My setup is as follows:
Acer Aspire R3700 with a 30gb SSD running a Linux install of XBMC (that is the install direct to the disc and boots in to XBMC and not Linux first)
Connected via a HDMI cable is my sony STR-DN1010 amp.

If the amp receives a decent signal from the file say a MKV movie with Dolby or DTS the amp says what it's decoding and lights up the "multi channel decoding" light.

But with some files I get have a "LPCM [ 48]", when I get this after around ten minuets the sound gets quieter(every now and then you get a short burst of normal volume).

I have no idea why it is doing this and no idea on how to solve it. So far stoping the file from playing and starting it from the last position returns the volume to its original level.

Any ideas? Any more info needed please let me know.

Thanks for your time

Please paste a Debug Log and the outputs of

Code:
aplay -l
and
Code:
aplay -L

A screenshot from your audio settings would be nice, too.

Cheers
David
