Linux No Video / Audio Quits

All,

My setup:

XBMCbuntu: XBMC 13.0 Git:0d1d80s (Compiled: May 4 2014)
TVHeadEnd: 3.4.28~geb79aee~trusty

I have an ATI HDTV Wonder installed, and have found and installed the proper firmware for the card. Ubuntu detects and initializes the card. TVHeadEnd does a channel scan, and while it doesn't find every channel that AntennaWeb says is in my area, it does find some, enough for testing purposes. Using VLC with the TVHeadEnd plugin, I can tune to the channels, and get perfect picture and sound. However, on the XBMC machine, two issues appear:

1. No picture

Just as it says. There's an empty box on the screen where the picture is supposed to be, but no picture appears. I surmise this might be related to lack of drivers or codecs for MPEG2, but I'm not sure. Any ideas on cause/resolution?

2. Sound quits.

When I tune a channel, I do get sound for that channel, despite the lack of picture. However, the sound cuts off after 8-10 seconds. If I tune to another channel, the same thing happens. No picture, but I do get 8-10 seconds of sound before it stops.

Again, since VLC on my desktop and laptop both work without issue, then this is definitely an XBMC issue. I'm not expert enough on Linux to be able to diagnose this myself, so I'd really appreciate anyone's input or advice.

The last line appears in the log the second the audio cuts off.

Thanks in advance!

Don't paste logfiles here, use xbmclogs or pastebin and then paste a link here please. Also, don't cut logs - you might not think something is relevant but you might be cutting information that a dev / experienced user needs to help diagnose your issue Wink

Get a proper debug log (wiki) where you reproduce your issue.

Fair enough. Log file pasted here:

Any thoughts as to the issue?

Couple of thoughts yeah Smile

1. Which version of the TVH addon are you using in XBMC ?
2. That is still not a debug log (wiki). Go to XBMC -> Settings -> System -> Debugging and turn it on. A proper debug log contains much more information than the standard log and one of the PVR devs will likely need it.

TVH Plug-in version: 1.9.27

Rebooted, turned on debugging, tried 2 channels. Log posted here:

See anything that sticks out?

OK, an update. I ran 'apt-get upgrade' as I had read that older versions of the plug-in had issues and wanted to make sure that everything was up-to-date. Now, the problem is different. Post upgrade, 99% of the time selecting a channel from the TVH plug-in simply crashes XBMC.

However, it did throw one joker in the deck. Twice, it did the following: After a crash where logging was at normal level, once XBMC restarted, I changed logging to debug and started a channel. The channel played normally, with good picture and sound, and kept playing. Changing the channel resulted in XBMC crashing. I was able to do this exactly twice. I have since tried to replicate it, but it hasn't done it again. Very strange. I was not able to capture a log of success, unfortuately.

Here is a log from my typical startup > pick a channel > crash. Any help would be appreciated, as this is maddeningly frustrating.
