Win RTMP PVR?
#1
Hello world,

WANT:
I have a capture card whose HD input I would like to be able to record for 10-20 minutes at a time. Once the recording is finished I want to seamlessly be able to jump back along the indexed progress bar of the recording for review. No need for archiving.

HAVE:
I did try recording with the capture card software and playing the file with vlc while it's being recorded. It's not gold, high latency, VLC stopping playback at unpredictable points... I'm trying GOM in a minute. the capture card has a proprietary hw encoder so I can't use dshow to grab the raw HD, that would completely overwhelm the computer.

To improve on this situation, I have set the card to stream h264 onto my local nginx rtmp server. The software will unfortunately not handle other protocols. VLC is unable to open this for mysterious reasons. I am now looking into XBMC for

- showing the stream
- making recordings of the stream which I can afterwards seek in
- it would be uberawesome if this were timeshifting so the showing of the stream can be paused while the recording goes on

Any ideas and hints are most welcome!
Thanks in advance,
Philipp
