VNSI: XBMC crash in Android when starting Live TV

Yes. Playback of mpeg2 TV records works via UPNP. I believe that TV live streaming works also via http streaming (vdr port 3000) on xbmc.

Can you please post a log when playing some mpeg-2 source? I just tried on y Transformer Prime and hw acceleration fails for mpeg-2 in general. Then it falls back to sw decoding. According to the libstagefright developer there is a problem with mpeg-2 in general:

You can disable it in advanced settings so that it falls back to sw decoding.

You are right. Currently I can't play any mpeg2 from remote. And I can't say anything about local playback of mpeg2 videos. Why this problem only on Android devices happens?

XBMC doesn't crash in that way. In some cases I can hear sound but no video playback. Mostly XBMC hang and you see a gray screen.

Google may know why their OS struggles with mpeg-2. I don't know. I think mpeg-2 only plays a minor role in the use cases Android was developed for and this has only little attention to get fixed.

Decoding mpeg-2 is not really resource hungry and most CPUs should be able to cope with that. I would just disable this codec in advanced settings.
