Green Video on DVD Rip
#1
Hi Guys,

Been using XBMC for some time now and adore it, but have never had this issue before. I typically play 1080p / DTS bluray rips. However as I'm so nice, I've been ripping my Fiancee's old DVD collection too. However when playing the video is showing green colour. The DVD themselves are, I think, Australian as weren't available in the UK. The TV show is 'At Home With The Braithewaits'. All seasons show the green colour overlay with some artifacting. I used MakeMKV to rip them.

I'm running an Acer Revo RL70 and latest OpenELEC Gotham.

It's not you, same here too. Looks like the entire site is now currently offline (even just the home page of http://xbmclogs.com/) . I was going to copy and paste it here but it looked a little too big. Perhaps the site will be back online shortly?

No don't put it here, you'll incur the wrath of the moderators and users.

Try pastebin.org

Or just wait, it'll be back.

In fact it's back already!

OK hopefully fritsch will come along and do his guru thing, but I would try for the moment to turn off hardware video acceleration and try again.

Thanks guys, it plays fine with hardware acceleration turned off. So whats the catch, will my 14GB+ 1080p rips suffer?

Yes they will, in expert mode can you turn acceleration on and off for different codecs? Sorry I don't have those options as I am on different hardware.

Yes, in expert mode, you can choose which to turn off. Shall I trial end error or is there a certain codec I should try disabling first...

Right guys, disabling only 'mpeg-2 vdpau' plays the files fine with no green tinge. To what detriment I don't know as yet.

Wouldnt my 1080p Bluray MKV rips also be mpeg-2 or is that x264? As you can tell, I'm not terribly knowledgable on video codecs!

Thanks for your help, rep awarded. Hope someone can still come along and offer a fix to root cause.
