Win NAS options

Hello all,

Firstly let me apologise if this has been posted in the wrong section and for asking a question that I have no doubt you are sick of answering but I need some help / guidance!

I currently have XBMC running on a Windows 7 Revo & all of my media is stored on external hard drives - Not ideal & I am looking for an option to centralise my media & tidy up the set up under my TV.

My question - Could I purchase http://www.ebuyer.com/507691-buffalo-lin...ls421de-eu along with a couple of 2TB drives? (4TB would be plenty for me) - Would this work over my network?

Thanks for any help

Or would this work? http://www.ebuyer.com/248760-d-link-dns-...re-dns-320

Yes, I am trying to do this as cheaply as possible!!

Thanks!

I'd go with something that holds more then 2 drives for future expandability if it were me. Also do you need to be able to saturate a gigabit Ethernet link? I've heard that at least some ARM based NAS devices are throughput limited to something like 30MB/sec.

I'd strongly suggest buying a Synology. They have a well sorted OS and a huge user community with mods and help out there. They are a little more expensive but they are worth it. Also make sure you get NAS hard drives. I like the WD Red drivers but Seagate also makes a NAS drive as well.
