New Freezing Issue
#1
Hi All,

I was hoping someone here could help me with a new, incredibly frustrating issue I've been having. I've been running XBMC for over two years now and version 13.2 since it came out (I think last week?) without issue. Starting exactly yesterday, I've been unable keep XBMC open for more than about 5 minutes or so. XBMC just freezes (the xbmc window turns whitish and I get the spinning wheel icon in Win 7 64bit).

I've looked over the logs and don't see anything causing the problem, and I can't figure out why I would get this so suddenly. Any help would be much appreciated!

Also note that I've tried reverting back to my old 13.1 install and I still had the same issue.

Does it freezes while in idle or are you playing any file and it freezes while playing back those files?

At first, I would remove those unsupported repos and addons like navi-x and superrepo.

It freezes both in idle and when active. I'll get rid of the unsupported repos and report back if I have any issues. Thanks.

Got rid of superrepo but I wasn't sure what navi-x was. I'm still having issues so here is my latest log.

I presume, that you take the logfile, while XBMC was not crashed, correct? That´s the wrong way to go.

You have to enable debug logging, reproduce your crash, and when it crashes...DON´T reboot. First try to ssh in and grab the logfile. If XBMC reboots itself look for the old logfile (xbmc.old) and provide this one. But only provide the old one, if XBMC reboots itself. If you are able to ssh in and are able to grab the normal logfile while xbmc freezes, then please take the normal log.

That's the strange thing, my process for getting the log files is
1) Turn on debug logging
2) wait until crash
3) Force XBMC to exit (the program freezes but never actually crashes to desktop so I have to force exit)
4) Copy logs without restarting xbmc

For reference here are my latest logs for sure using the method listed above:

OK, I am just not having any luck figuring this out. I usually run in portable mode so I thought I'd try running in non-portable mode (which is at default settings right now) and that ran fine. Tried going back to portable mode and disabling every plugin but the default ones and I still crash. Here are my latest logs:

I think I'm starting to see where this is going. It seems like there is an issue with libcurl on my side? I've turned on advanced logging for libcurl and other functions in XBMC. Does anybody have any thoughts on what might be the issue or how I could fix it?

Note, both of these come from right after a freeze:

Hey all,

I think I may have found the issue though I'm not exactly sure why this might be an issue. XBMC seems to freeze when setting the web interface port to anything other than 80. Trying a new install and then slowly adding plugins, XBMC only started freezing after changing the port from the default of 80 (in fact, pressing enter and changing the port seems to cause the freeze.

If I can verify this happens on other people's systems, I'll go ahead and post a bug report.
