Missing movies & Tv shows - Batch rename?
#1
Question
Hi guys,

I have allot of of missing movies and TV shows I use the IMDB scraper and used 'Missing Movie Scanner' add on to find all the movies I don't have. Is there any way that I can make XMBC find this media without having to rename every file manually?

If not is there any program to batch rename every movie or to get a nfo file for every movie/tv show so it gets found?

If there is any other info/log file I should provide just ask.

Thanks in advance!
Greetings
Dennis

I see a lot of issues with your file naming consistency. It's all over the place. Some have the year in front of the title, others with parentheses and the year, others not at all, others have completely arbitrary names - like "32 James Bond - The Living Daylights (xxxx) hdtv... blah blah. Kodi does a pretty good job at parsing filenames for correct data, but you have to help it some. Read the wiki on naming videos, and use a utility such as theRenamer to whip those files into shape.

Also, you have Documentaries and comedy specials mixed into your movies. These will probably not get scanned as movies, but rather as tvshows.

I would run your files throught something like:

The Renamer: http://www.therenamer.com/
or Filebot: http://www.filebot.net/

to get well named files and then add them to the library.

Thanks allot guys! The Filebot program is great Big Grin

Tough on some shows it links the wrong name to the wrong episode. But it saved me allot of work.

With Filebot I renamed all my movies and I have 0 missing now.

How about you put the TV shows through filebot? Wait!

I can tell you straight up that putting {x264) and (x264) (m-HD) and (Complete) [Dvd Rip][Xvid] and whatever else you put on - in the tvshow name field will cause failures, and that a fair amount of your content is not properly named and that the tvshownames are totally really_wacky Wink pun intended.

I also see that my fellow community member, - pointed you towards Naming_video_files (wiki) ON the threads first reply! It is main point of entry which covers this topic and also offers the tools mentioned here and should place you in a place of understanding. Which you clearly didnt read at all, I say that with slight disappointment, because you ignored the great advice given to you first up.
