Try playing a video in kodi then stopping it and immediately go to wmc to play a video. If you give it enough time it will play but most times I get that error.

Ok, I just double checked, it works, no error - no delay. I think the problem may be that you have exclusive mode enabled in your audio driver. Worth a look anyway.
