I am a mediaportal user today and am looking at XBMC/Kodi as a potential replacement as the tv element appears to be getting closer. I have had a play with Kodi alpha3 and mediaportal for a quick view on how this is shaping up and was wondering if there is a comparison of the different backends for features.
I see on the wiki there is a high level compare of the backends in terms of signal support etc, but are they all the same in terms of features eg - do all backends support season recording, or is this only accounted for in some of them.
Is there any view on differences in performance from each of the backends too.
Finally - I know when you activate the pvr features, it pulls in the channels and EPG - is this not saved as it happens every time rather than loading a saved state to refresh?
