Scan Video Addon into Library
#1
Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to scan the content of a video addon into the media library.
For example, I use the Put.io addon to stream my videos. From this addon, you can browse your folder tree and stream any videos.
I would like to have all these videos scanned in the media library so I can leverage the scrappers and the "already seen" features.

I took the example of Put.io but if could be any video addon.

Is this possible?

For information I'm using Openelec on Raspberry Pi.

Thanks

I see here:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Lis...urce_types

Section 4 Plugin Sources.

And here:

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Plugin_sources

Is that still used?

If so, are those plugin sources scannable as Movie content or TV Show content in the Library?

I'm a developer (mostly Java but I can hack some python as well) so if this is possible, I could potentially tweak the Put.io plugin and make it a Plugin Source?

I run my.library on a networked pc then share the created files. The .strm files that are created link to the addon, not to a specific network location, so they will work on the pi regardless of being created on a separate pc.

While My Library might be a fine program it's way too complicated for an average user. A gui solution within xbmc using the context menu "add to library" would be much desired.

With more and more content being available from online sources a centralized library containing online and local content really becomes necessary. I now have about twenty addons I frequently use besides my local content. Each addon has some videos that can only be accessed through one sepcific addon. In a perfect world I shouldn't have to worry which addon includes which video but enter my library, search for the video and hit play, with xbmc starting the necessary addon automatically or play the file from my NAS for local content.

Since I can easily add videos from an addon to an xbmc favorite through the context menu, adding that video to a library looks like the next logical step.
