Welcome to forums.

Thats dropbox package is a unofficial package therefore only whoever uploaded that (I recommend against installing packages from unknown sources), can tell you therefore asking here is unlikely to get you any answer.

You want to know what you are installing, versions etc, use official sources like http://xbmc.org/download/ which has the benefit of being supported in these forums.

thanks for the reply universal.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in my question the package is xbmc Gotham 13.1 which was supplied to me by the retailer who supplied me the box as a recovery app. Unfortunately that's about as much as I've got out of him after a dozen emails to tell me how he has put Linux XBMC on an android box. I'm looking to update to Gotham 13.2 and have very little knowledge of Linux protocols etc. Can't seem to find a way to find out if its Ubuntu or such like and as its a apk file is it android based Linux or something. I was hoping some one could point me in the right direction as to where I'd look in the file to find this out. I've taken screenshots of the file when I've converted it to a zip file but I'm stuck anybody got a bone they can throw? I suppose as a noobie I'm asking basic questions that sound dumb but its like trying to read instructions in french when you recognize only 2% of the words your reading.

I have no idea about the build or whatever OS you are running and what was changed. But the file you posted is and android package. Since android uses the linux kernel, that might be what you are seeing.
