Would it also freeze on seek if you disabled "prefer vaapi render method" ?

seems not. i first misunderstood you and wanted to disable vaapi acceleration but then i saw the setting use vaapi render method.
i disabled it and since then i failed reproducing the freez. i will try it the following days again just to be sure.
may i ask what exactly this does?

It uses the CopyFrame Infrastructure to copy the surfaces into system memory and from there they are rendered.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Seems to work. No freezing anymore. i tested it a lot and it worked perfectly so far.
shall i mark this thread as solved or keep it as it is due to the crash bug above?

is the fix for the deadlock/freez already in xbmc master?
