I'm planning to resurrect an old PC (intel E2160 1.8GHz) and i ask to myself: wichh os is better?
I would like to run torrent client too.

It depends... But for older hardware and just xbmc Linux is great. Plus there are loads of torrent clients available.

I use a minimal Ubuntu install, though if you're not familiar with Linux I would recommend openelec - its easy to setup and get going plus it has torrent clients that can he installed as XBMC addons.

My fave is now openelec. It is a good test too because you can test it very simply with a USB stick.
