Question about USTVNOW and Location
#1
Hi XBMC Community!

I am still in the never ending process of learning about my XBMC, and cutting the cord.

I have just 1 question if you folks would not mind indulging me.

I'm using ustvnow to get live tv streams. And my question is, how does it (either the addon) or xbmc know my physical location?

What I mean by that is I live in FL, and I did turned on cbs yesterday on ustvnow, and it is the same stream that I would get local to me through my antenna.

I travel quite a bit, and ultimately, if it is possible, I like to watch local channels in other areas. Is that possible? Is there a way to tell XBMC that I am in Boston, and not in Florida?

I'm guess if that if it can be done, It needs to be done through a vpn. Which I'm fairly certain I should sign up for now at this point to keep comcrap out of my business. But I don't have any idea of the details, or how that all works, which is why I'm turning here for help.

Thanks in advance!

I think that the ustvnow stations are local to the Allentown, PA area, and that your location is irrelevant.

Thanks for the input. Can I ask what makes you think that, or what makes you say that, so I can do more research on this?

I checked the call signs for the major broadcast stations.
