AMD Propietary Drivers and XBMCBuntu
#1
Was wondering what is the best way to install the propietary AMD Radeon drivers under the latest XBMCBuntu. I'm currently using a AMD A4-6320 APU with Radeon 8370D HD Graphics? I tried installing the beta drivers but it seems it cannot find amdconfig at all (file not found). Suggestions?

Don't use fglrx. Why don't you use mesa?

Currently on the open source drivers now, but Steam refuses to load under XBMCBuntu under the open source drivers.

Yeah - if you want proprietary drivers use windows. fglrx is a nightmare on linux and that will never change.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

I found the same issue here on the Arch Linux forum, it is missing the libgl libraries. I know it isn't XBMC related as such, but it is on the distro.

We ship the correct gl libs out of the box. You might have f**cked up your installation by forcing the proprietary driver installation. We don't install fglrx by default.

Install plain xbmcbuntu and the only thing to do is: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade after installation has finished.

Edit: Ah and yes - steam is a 32 bit application - you need the 32 bit libs on your 64 bit OS to make it run.

What is the command for installing the 32-bit libraries out of curiosity?
