Smells like a spambot trying to up its post count...

Del, my suggestion, in order to prove you're a real human, is to give a bit of background about yourself and your connection with the software.

We do get the occasional message from a spambot very similar to your first message. The tactic doesn't work though, once the spamming starts the banhammer hits and all threads and posts are automagically removed

In case you are a real human: Welcome on the forum.

Can someone explain this spambot thing?

What's the purpose of upping it's count and what does it achieve?

Spambots have 2 main goals. First, if you click their links, you might buy something directly. Second, for the purposes of Google page rank, having a link from the XBMC forum is a really good thing, so even if they don't get any of us clicking, they'll still show up higher in google page results.

and to be able to post links, they need a min ammount of posts on some forums, thus they try to get those by posts like above

I have to post just to get my minimum in...

at least one a day to keep the devs at bay.

Hey, looks like you're actually coming close to passing me. Pretty impressive, given my 2 year head start. Smile
